PCB
chairman Zaka Ashraf has said that Pakistan plans to launch in the
country own T20 premier league international has been sidelined for the
next year.Ashraf
told reporters that while in Multan much planning had already gone in
the case of the Premier League proposal but would not be possible to
hold this year."I
think realistically we should be able to launch sometime in March next
year and we will invite foreign players to participate in the event and
make it a success," he said. The
PCB has been working on the launch of its first league in the footsteps
of the Indian Premier League, Premier League and the Bangladesh Premier
League of Sri Lanka for the past few months and recently also
advertised the position in the league commissioner .Pakistan
is the only country in the South Asian region even without an
international flavor T20 league despite being one of the pioneers who
started the national T20 tournament organization successfully.Ashraf
also admitted that while succeeding in getting the cricket board of
India to restore bilateral cricket relations between the two countries
was a major achievement of the PCB, but the absence of international
cricket in Pakistan remains a painful problem dash."The
restoration of Indo-Pak bilateral relations is an achievement for the
PCB and we have confirmed that they will be touring India in December,"
he added."But at the same time, the Board has not given up the management to restore international cricket in the country."Ashraf
said it was a painful fact that terrorism remains a major obstacle in
the Pakistan cricket grounds hosting international teams again."But
we have not given up and we see the restoration of bilateral relations
with India as a major step toward the eventual convince international
teams touring Pakistan. When we go to India also hope India will tour
Pakistan soon," he added Ashraf.No
nation playtest has visited Pakistan since early 2009, when militants
attacked the Sri Lanka team in Lahore, killing six Pakistani policemen
and a van driver and wounding several of the visiting players. The
PCB chief also said that the performance of the national U-19 team at
the World Cup was disappointing and conducted research to find out where
things went wrong that led to finish eighth in the competition
Pakistan.
