The West Indies cricket team arrived in Colombo on Tuesday for the World T20 tournament and looked upbeat ahead of their warm-up match against the hosts to be played on Thursday.
Led by skipper Darren Sammy, the team had a preparatory nine-day camp in Barbados under head coach Ottis Gibson. In fact, before departing, Sammy had said that his side was upbeat and asked fans to `rally around West Indies` (Read Sammy confident of a good showing).
"The players in the team have been talking about it and everyone is excited and very happy to see the way the people have come out and offered their support," Sammy had said before leaving for Colombo.
With explosive batsman Chris Gayle in the side, the team is capable of springing surprises on teams which may be seen as superior, even if on paper alone.
The team plays Sri Lanka and Afghanistan (September 17, Monday) before playing their first match of the tournament against Australia on September 22.
