Narine dropped, Samuels recalled

West Indies spinner Sunil Narine has been dropped for the first Test against Zimbabwe that starts in Barbados on Tuesday.

Shane Shillingford has been called up as a replacement.
Narine, along with Fidel Edwards, Ravi Rampaul and Kirk Edwards, find themselves on the sidelines, as Shillingford and Shannon Gabriel get a call-up, while Marlon Samuels is back in the side after injury.

Samuels has been out of the set-up for two months after being struck in the face by a Lasith Malinga bouncer while playing in the Big Bash League.

Narine's drop can be explained by his poor series against Bangladesh, where he took only three wickets in two Tests. Veerasammy Permaul has since stepped up as the more effective spinner.

SQUAD:

Darren Sammy (capt), Denesh Ramdin (wk and vice-capt), Tino Best, Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Narsingh Deonarine, Shannon Gabriel, Chris Gayle, Veerasammy Permaul, Kieron Powell, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels and Shane Shillingford.
