AHM Mustafa Kamal ICC Vice-President

The International Cricket Council (ICC) Board Tuesday unanimously accepted the joint nomination of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of AHM Mustafa Kamal to perform the role of ICC Vice-President for 2012-14 and then subsequently as ICC President 2014-15.

In an instant reaction, following the announcement from the ICC, Kamal said, “I want to thank the ICC Board for accepting my nomination as the next Vice-President.”

He added: “This is indeed a proud moment for Bangladesh and its 160 million cricket-loving people and a tribute to our undying passion for this noble game. I am thankful to all the Member Nations.”

The BCB boss also said, “I also take this opportunity to express my utmost appreciation for the continuous assistance I have received from the Bangladesh Government.”

He further added: “Especially, I am indebted to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her unending support.”

“I am particularly grateful to the Pakistan Cricket Board for its display of faith in me throughout this process starting from the joint nomination,” he said.

“The Bangladesh Cricket Board Directors, officials and employees have been a constant source of strength and encouragement for me and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.”

Kamal, who is now in Colombo, Sri Lanka to attend the ICC Executive Board meeting, is expected to return to Dhaka on Thursday.
