Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram on Sunday lavished praise on India U-19 skipper Unmukt Chand to lead his team to their third World Cup here today and said the starter is ready to play for the senior team.

Describing unbeaten 111-run shots Chand as the best entries in U-19 cricket, Akram said: "As a complete package, which is excellent. This guy is very special and I hope that the Indian selectors are looking at him because Ian Chappell (former Australia captain) has been saying, we've been saying that Chand is ready for India ".

"It was a privilege to see the entries for Chand played today.'s The best entries in U-19 cricket I've ever seen. Believe that some players are ready to play for India 'A' or it may be that the team of India, Sandeep Sharma and Chand Chand Unmukt. already got picked for India 'A' tour of New Zealand in September and October, "he said.

Chand swept away as India defeated defending champions Australia by six wickets at Tony Ireland Stadium. This was the first win India U-19 'after Mohammed Kaif and Virat Kohli led their teams to win in 2000 and 2008.

Akram also praised the effort of glovesman Smit Patel, who hit 62, and Chand company, reviewed the goal of 226 jumps in a strip with 14 balls to spare.

"It was a smart move by the captain or the coach who will send the order in place of Akshdeep Nath, who had a normal tournament. Smit is a very busy player. Individual takes hit limits. Overall, he supported the captain, well and rotated the strike.

"That's where it is very useful and Chand, all the way, was very quiet and serene. There was, as such, there is no pressure on him and this boy (Smit) helped the cause as well," said the legendary paceman.

Akram said winning the World Cup on Australian soil counts as a sensation. "It is essential ... to win the World Cup and also in Australia, where the windows help fast bowlers. I think came out on top."
