Former India captain Sourav Ganguly’s father
Chandidas Ganguly passed away after a prolonged illness in Kolkata on
Thursday.
He
was 73 and is survived by wife Nirupa and two sons, first-class cricketer
Snehasish and Sourav.
Ganguly Sr was seriously ill with high blood sugar
and was given insulin injections regularly while being treated at
home.
“His condition deteriorated in the evening and he passed away
around 6:30pm while he was being rushed to the MP Birla Heart Research Centre,”
Cricket Association of Bengal joint secretary Sujan Mukherjee
said.
