Yuvraj returns to ODI fold

India made six changes to their one-day squad following Sachin Tendulkar's decision to retire from the shorter format.

The squad for the three-match series, named on the day Tendulkar confirmed he will no longer represent India in 50-over cricket, included the recalled Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag.

There was no place for paceman Zaheer Khan and spin duo of Pragyan Ojha and Rahul Sharma, while all-rounder Irfan Pathan, fast bowler Umesh Yadav and batsman Manoj Tiwary all missed out through injury.

Yuvraj was tipped for a return after starring in the drawn Twenty20 series with England and Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma were also recalled, but there were surprise call-ups for all-rounder Bhuvneshwar Kumar, seamer Shami Ahmed and leg spinner Amit Mishra.

There had been doubts over 34-year-old Sehwag's inclusion as he is not expected to play in the 2015World Cup, but the decision to drop Zaheer is not a major shock as his main priority is the Test series against Australia in February.

But the experienced seamer could play some part in the ODI series against England which begins on January 11 if he is given the green light by coach Duncan Fletcher and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The Twenty20 squad is unchanged from the series against England with the first match against Pakistan on Christmas Day in Bangalore.
