Sydney Sixers won the Champions League Twenty20
title after defeating the Highveld Lions by 10 wickets in the final in
Johannesburg on Sunday.
Lions put into bat scored 121 all out in 20 overs. Jean Symes top-scored with 51 off 46 balls with eight fours.
Sydney, who went through the tournament unbeaten, received $2.5 million for winning the world club event while the Lions claimed $1.3 million as runners-up.
The Lions innings was decimated within seven overs as they slumped 32 for five at the New Wanderers Stadium.
Thami Tsolekile (20) and Dwaine Pretorius (21) then swung their bats to help the side post a respectable total.
Nathan McCullum and Josh Hazlewood did most of the damage taking three wickets each.
New Zealand off-spinner McCullum, who opened the bowling for the Sixers, claimed 3-24 while paceman Hazlewood nabbed 3-22.
Sydney Sixers then romped home in 12.3 overs after Michael Lumb blasted 82 not out off 42 balls packed with eight fours and five sixes and skipper Brad Haddin remained unbeaten on 37 off 33 balls.
Lumb clinched the man-of-the-match award.
