IPL players, office bearers under IT department`s scanner

The Income Tax department, that swung into action after an India TV sting in May this year reported spot fixing in IPL, has recorded statement of few players and even office bearers of the Pune Warriors team.

The TV report had also claimed that some players had tried to negotiate financial contracts that were much bigger than the IPL norms. It was also claimed that under-the-table payments were prevalent in IPL.

Few were even caught on hidden camera confessing that players get much more than their prescribed auction money.

Pune Warriors player Mohnish Mishra was seen confessing that he received around Rs. 30 lakh more than his prescribed slab. Manish Pandey`s name had also come up in this regard.

The IT department has recorded the statements of Mohnish Mishra, Manish Pandey and Shalabh Srivastava (Kings XI Punjab).

They have also recorded the statement of a Sahara official, that owns the Pune team.

The players have reportedly told the IT department of Mumbai that they were just indulging in rumour mongering in a bid to try and increase their market price, but haven`t got anything undue in real.
