India vs Pakistan at Eden Gardens on Jan. 3

Eden Gardens will host the second one-day International of the three-match series between India and Pakistan. The match has been scheduled for January 3.

CAB treasurer Biswarup Dey informed on Wednesday that the third ODI was supposed to be held at the ground on January 6. But a change of plans rescheduled the match.

“According to the previous plan New Delhi, Chennai and Calcutta were supposed to host the three ODIs respectively. Now, New Delhi will be hosting the last ODI and Chennai will be hosting the first,” Dey said.

Asked the reason behind such a decision, Dey said: “Probably, a few dignitaries will visit the country during that series…"

“So, they might have decided to schedule the last match in the capital.” Both the sides will also play two T20 Internationals prior to the ODI series.

Meanwhile, a three-member team from England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) came for an inspection of the Eden, which will host the third Test in the India-England series, from December 5-9.

The team included John Carr, ECB’s director of Cricket Operations, Reg Dickason (ECB’s security officer) and press officer Ian Smith.

The Englishmen also had a meeting with senior police officers regarding the security arrangements.

“We had played an ODI and a T20 last year… Since then, the ground has undergone a lot of renovations… We are quite satisfied with the arrangements,” Carr said.
