Captain Mahela Jayawardene and opener Tillakaratne Dilshan struck
quick, unbeaten half-centuries as Sri Lanka beat West Indies by nine
wickets in a World Twenty20 warmup match on Thursday.
Jayawardene
hit six fours and two sixes in a 35-ball 57 not out, while Dilshan
scored 50 not out off 38 balls as the tournament hosts chased down West
Indies` moderate score of 132-6 at Nondescripts Cricket Club.
Sri Lanka reached 135-1 with more than four overs to spare.
After
Jayawardene won the toss and made West Indies bat first, seam bowler
Nuwan Kulasekara, just recovered from a groin injury in July, bowled
Dwayne Smith (5) with his second ball with the total on six.
Kumar
Sangakkara, also returned to action after a broken finger, held a catch
to dismiss Lendl Simmons off Kulasekara, reducing West Indies to 23-2.
Johnson Charles top-scored with 30 and Kulasekara returned the best bowling figures of 2-35.
In
reply, Sri Lanka lost only debutant opener Dilshan Munaweera for 24.
Jayawardene and Dilshan shared an unbroken 103-run partnership in 11
overs.
