Pietersen has been out of favor with England management since being dropped for sending "provocative" texts to South Africa players about then-test captain Andrew Strauss in August.
After weeks of talks, however, Flower says the dispute "is nearing an end now in a positive way, I hope."
Flower says on Tuesday there should be an announcement in the "next 36 hours" about Pietersen`s future, which could mean the South African-born player receiving a belated central contract and maybe a place in the squad for the India tour starting on Oct. 25.
Flower says "if we get some of the formal legal proceedings out of the way, then we`ll get on to the cricket thereafter."
